About Nairobi Design Thinking School
C4DLab runs the Nairobi Design Thinking School to support the integration of practical User Centered Design (UCD) and Design Thinking into academic programs and the larger industry.
The larger innovation community has learnt that solutions that put the user at the centre of product development have much better chances of succeeding and becoming sustainable.
C4DLab, works with partners to run the Nairobi Design Thinking School (NDTS), whose aim is to build a large community of innovators who are user -centric conscious when developing their innovations.
NDTS runs a number of learning-by-doing programs targeting passionate individuals who want to create solutions to challenges in society.
NDTS offers a flagship course called Sustainable Innovation Design (SID) which provides a ‘learning by doing opportunity’ to participants as they solve a real life challenge provided by our partners. One can also take a Design Thinking Bootcamp or an executive masterclass.
Sustainable Innovation Design (SID) Course
The SID Standard course is aimed at students that are eager to jump right into the process of mixing theory and practice. Students work in Multi-disciplinary multi-cultural teams over a period of 3.5 months to solve real life industry issues by using Human Centered Design Thinking Principles.
This Problem Based Learning Course gives learners the opportunity to explore and bring about sustainable local solutions that impact communities worldwide.
The goal of this course is to develop teams of creative, bold, curious, open minded & innovative thinkers while solving a real-life challenge.
Students are grouped in self organising multi-disciplinary teams. The students are then given an industry problem to solve the entire semester. A specific iterative methodology is used under the supervision of mentors and design thinking coaches. At the end of the semester, the students present their prototype for academic credit and industry assessment.
